The records mention Lone Pine Memorial (NOT Lone Pine Cemetery). There is no reference to a (land) burial, so assume that, as he died at sea, he was probably buried at sea.

9National Archives of Australia, Barcode 1975978; Series number B2455; Series accession number B2455/1.
No. 2. Private F.S. ANDERSON, 13th Battalion, A.I.F., was awarded, posthumously, Victory Medal no. 11352; British War Medal no. 13474; Victory Medal no. 13414.

Frederick was enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force in Sidney, NSW, Australia, on 11 Sep 1914.

Military record shows he "Embkd at Melb. per Transport A 38 "Ulysses" 22/12/1914."

Frederick "died at sea, on the 24th May 1915, of wounds received in action at Gallipoli." Some records say "he died of wounds received in action at the Dardanelles." The exact nature of his wounds is not recorded.

In his will, dated 02 May 1915, Frederick left "the whole of [his] property and effects" (chain and key, letters, photos, watch, testament, knife, drill book, wallet, disc) to Edith Iris ("Edie") HARDING, Queen Street, Masterton, N.Z., who acknowleged receipt of same on 02 May 1916. Edie HARDING was Frederick's brother's (Sidney's) wife's sister.

Frederick's 1914-1915 Star (medal) was dispatched to his father, Martin ANDERSEN, on 26 Aug 1920. However, as both of Frederick's parents were already deceased, the Star was returned unclaimed.

Frederick's brother, Henry, who was living in Australia, attempted to claim Frederick's deferred wages, war medals, and personal effects, etc., but the [Australian] Deceased Soldiers' Estates Act of 1918, which stated that these mementos must be handed over to blood relations in the order "Father; mother; eldest surviving brother [etc]," prevented them from being released to him.

Alfred ANDERSON acknowledged receipt of the 1914-1915 Star and B.W. Medal on 14 Sep 1921.

Alfred ANDERSON acknowledged receipt of "one Memorial Plaque and King's message in connexion with the late No. 2 Private F.S. ANDERSON, 13th Battalion, A.I.F.," on 29 Mar 1922.
