2. Karoline Elise (Caroline Eliza) ELLINGSEN (CARLSEN)

Name variants: Karoline/Caroline Elise/Eliza CARLSDATTER/CARLSEN/ELLINGSEN/ELLENGSEN/ELLENSEN/STEFFENSEN.

The 1865 Norwegian census shows Karoline ELLINGSEN, age 13 years, living at Fjerdingens Gade, Vor Frelsers Menighed, Christiania, Norway, with her parents.

The 1875 Norwegian census shows Caroline ELLINGSEN, born 1853, an unmarried (ug) seamstress (syerske), living with her mother, Hanna ELLINGSEN. Hans ELLINGSEN is listed as head of family (hf), but is not Caroline's father.

Caroline CARLSEN and her son, Carl Olaf OLSEN, travelled from Oslo, Norway, to Queensland, Australia, in 1880.

Caroline married Svend STEFFENSEN in Australia when she was 28 years of age.

Svend and Caroline later lived in Bundaberg (not far from Rockhampton), Queensland, Australia.

After Svend died on 6 October 1901, Caroline and Carl travelled to New Zealand in 1901.

Caroline STEFFENSEN and her son, Carl, lived in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Both Caroline and Carl are buried at a local cemetery.

3. Johanne Katrine KARLSDATTER (ELLINGSEN)

Name variants: Johanne/Johanna Katrine/Catrina KARLSDATTER/ELLINGSEN/DUDLEY.

The 1865 Norwegian census, Johanne KARLSDATTER is found at Furuholmen farm, Skadø, Kragerø, Telemark, Norway, where she is the foster daughter (fosterdatter) of Karl J. JOHANNESEN and his wife, Berte A. OLSDATTER.

Johanne ELLINGSEN travelled, as a single woman, to New Zealand in 1872.

Johanne ELLINGSEN married Edward John DUDLEY at Tolaga Bay, New Zealand. They then went to Opunake, Taranaki, New Zealand, and spent the rest of their lives there.

In 1901, Johanne DUDLEY, and her daughter Elsie, went to Bundaberg, Australia, to visit Johanne's sister, Caroline STEFFENSEN. (John DUDLEY has a photograph.)

Johanne DUDLEY lived the last years of her life with her daughter, Alice Ellen & Alice's husband, William Henry TREWEEK, at Maata, Taranaki, New Zealand.
