First Generation :: Notes
1. Christopher FINDSEN FURDALEN (FINDSEN)
One of first settlers at Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
Christoffer's sister, Randi FINNSDATTER, and her family arrived in New Zealand 1873 aboard "Høvding".
The 1905 Electoral Roll for the Electoral District of Waipawa shows:
"1611 FINDSEN, Ellen Gurena, South Norsewood, widow"
Since Christopher FINDSEN's sons were living, this suggests that Christopher may have remarried. (He died in 1904.)
Kari SØRENSDATTER OPSTAD
One of first settlers at Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
May have been first death in Norsewood in childbirth.
Family story is that when Kari (Karen) died, the cemetery was surveyed but not cleared and she and, possibly, two others were buried in error outside the boundary. (Source: Derek OLSEN (Australia), eMail, 03 May 2005.)
Kari's sister Caroline ("Lena") also emigrated to NZ with her husaband, Edvard ANDERSEN LAURVIG, and family. Caroline also died in childbirth.
2. Berte Marie CHRISTOPHERSDATTER (FINDSEN)

4. Hans Sigvard CHRISTOPHERSEN (FINDSEN)
