Bush Advocate, Volume III, Issue 233, 5 November 1889, Page 2There is a poor man named Edward HANSEN at Norsewood, and he has been ill and unable to work now for a long time. In order to aid HANSEN, the benevolent people at Norsewood are getting up a tea meeting on Saturday next. It is to be hoped that the attendance will be a good one, and a handsome sum realised.

Bush Advocate, Volume IV, Issue 274, 11 February 1890, Page 2A Norsewood settler named Edward HANSEN, employed by Mr WHITE at his flax mill, Takapau, met with accident on Saturday, whereby he narrowly escaped the loss of his right eye. Mr HANSEN was engaged cutting green flax for the mill, when in stooping suddenly he ran a dry korari or flax stalk into his eye. The pain was terrible, and the injured eye presents a dreadful appearance, but there is no danger to the sight. HANSEN waited upon Messrs LESLIE and HYDE, of Ormondville, but beyond bread poultice and cooling lotions, it was not necessary to subject him to treatment, and the injured man is now much easier than could have been expected in so short a time after the accident.
