Notes :: Second Generation
4. Martineus (Martin) [ANDREASEN] OLSEN
Martineus would have been known as Martineus ANDREASEN in Norway, but his surname would have been 'anglicised' to OLSEN (same as father's surname) in New Zealand.
Martineus' name has been recorded as Martineus, Martinius, Martinus and Martin.
One of early settlers at Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
Ludvig (Ludwig) Melton JOHANSEN
Thought this could be Ludvig Melton JOHANSEN, who married Annie Gunda OLSEN, both buried at Terrace End Cemetery, Palmerston North, Manawatu, New Zealand. Margaret BOND confirmed that Ludvig and Annie were buried at Terrace End.
7. Caroline ("Carrie") OLSEN
Caroline had several miscarriages, supposedly because her corsets were laced "too tight". (Personal Communication: Bella ANDERSEN, 2005.)
Samuel ("Sam") [EMANUELSEN] FREDERIKSON
Born in Norway of Swedish parents.
Incorrectly listed in Norwegian emigration records and passenger list as child of August and Amalie ANDERSEN.
One of first settlers at Norsewood, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.
Photographs of Samuel FREDERIKSON:
O.E. BALL, The Families of 'Fernhills' and their Garfield Neighbours. Pioneers of Norsewood. Pages 38 and 39.
Joseph (Joe) LINO
Had a fish and chip shop in Dannevirke. (O.E. BALL, The Families of 'Fernhills' and their Garfield Neighbours. Pioneers of Norsewood, page 29.) Joe was Italian and had some nasty incidents happen to him and his business during the war when he was attacked and his shop vandalised. (O.E. BALL, The Families of 'Fernhills' and their Garfield Neighbours. Pioneers of Norsewood, page 29.)
