Recorded in Oslo in 1880, as witness at a christening, and he appears to have arrived in NZ in 1891 (from Australia), but don't know where he was in between.

Adolph Gunnerius KNUDSEN married Hanna Elise (Hannah Eliza) HANSDATTER (OLSEN) in 1895. They had 3 children, 2 of whom died in infancy. Hanna died following the birth of their youngest child.

Adolph then married Mary Elizabeth DONGHI in 1902. They had 5 children, including Mary's child from a previous relationship.

In 1909, Adolph, left his wife and children and just disappeared. His wife, Mary. died the following year and the children were fostered out to different families.

"On the 21st inst. Mr KNUDSEN's three-roomed cottage at Norsewood was destroyed by fire. The building was insured for £70 in the New Zealand Fire Insurance Company's oflice, for which Mr MARTIN is the Norsewood agent. The usual claim was made on the company and to-day a cheque was received by Mr MARTIN for the full amount. The promptness with which this company settles claims is much appreciated by insurers."
