"Mr TORKILSEN, sen., wife of Mr O. TORKILSEN, of Norsewood, died yesterday at her residence in Norsewood at about 3 p.m. in the afternoon. On Monday evening she complained of a pain in the head, and suddenly went to sleep between the hours of 8 and 9 o'clock, but never regained consciousness. Dr VEITCH stated that death was due to hemorrhage of the brain. Much sympathy is felt for the family in their bereavement, especially as the wife of the eldest son, Mr T. TORKILSEN, is at present an inmate of the Waipukurau hospital."

"The funeral of the late Mrs Maren Helena TORKILSEN, wife of Mr O. C. TORKILSEN, was held at Norsewood yesterday afternoon, and was followed from the house to the cemetery by one of the largest gatherings seen in Norsewood. Mrs TORKILSEN was one of the original immigrants, and died on the thrity-fith anniversary of the landing at Napier. Pastor CHRISTIANSEN, of the Lutheran Church, Palmerston North, officiated, and conducted service first at the house of the deceased and afterwards at the graveside. The coffin was borne from the hearse to the graveside by Messrs E. SVENSEN, M. GURZINSKI, A. OLSEN, H. STRAND, O. OLSEN, and B. GUNDERSEN. Mr O. C. TORKILSEN has been the recipient of many sympathising messages, and the large number of floral wreaths and crosses which covered the grave showed the deep respect in which the deceased lady was held."
