Amund AMUNDSEN's Death Registration records place of birth as "Hamer [sic], Norway". It also records his age as 86 years at time of death (so born c 1838), however, this appears to be incorrect.

This record is incorrect. It states that Amund was born in Sweden, but he was born in Norway. Also, it records his birth date as 1830, but he was born in 1841.

Departed Hamburg, Germany, on 25 Nov 1874, was towed down the River Elbe and cast off into the North Sea. Some days later she encountered a storm and while she was off the island of Borkum she lost part of her main mast and had to be towed back to Cuxhaven where she was laid up for repairs. She sailed again on 16 Dec 1874 and arrived in Napier, New Zealand, on 17 March 1875.
