A disastrous fire occurred in Norsewood early on Sunday morning, when the house situated at the corner of the Ngamoko main road and Parson's street, and occupied by Mr Lars Amundsen and family, was burnt to the ground. The fire is supposed to have originated in the centre of the building, but the cause is unknown. Mr and Mrs Amundsen and family left the house at about 8 o'clock on Saturday morning, and went to Mr Amundsen's father's residence on the Danish line, and Mr Amundsen helped his father with tho charcoal burning during tho day and stayed over the night with his parents. The fire was first discovered by Mr Fred Johansen, and it was not long before a large number had collected to see if anything could be done to save furniture, but tho fire had already got too strong a hold and all efforts were useless. There was no wind blowing and the flames could be Been for a considerable distance. The house burned to the ground in less than an hour. The house was insured in the South British for £100, and the fur niture in the Standard for £60, but still Mr Amundsen will be a heavy loser.
